Many of you have written in asking how voting on the challenges works. Keep reading to learn more about how your wonderful makeovers become winners!
Of course, the first step is to create an amazing makeover and then select “Save and enter the current challenge” when you save your makeover. Please remember that it may take a few minutes for your makeover to show as entered into the challenge. You can check by simply hovering your mouse over “Enter: Current Challenge Name” on the top of the page in the Challenges bar area. You can refresh your page if it says that you are not entered into the challenge.
Once a challenge is closed for entries, voting begins and lasts a total of 3 days with two voting stages. On the first day, go to the Vote page and you’ll see eight looks featured side-by-side. Click on the one you like best in each group. Your votes will determine the top 50 finalists. There are usually over 5,000 entries per challenge, so it is unlikely that you will see your own entry.
On Day 2, the top 50 will be revealed! You can scroll through each contestant and give each a score between 1 (not the best) to 10 (the best). The three contestants that receive the highest averaged scores will be revealed as the winners the next day.
The voting system is based on the ELO rating system, which was originally developed for chess competitions. This system ensures fair voting among challengers regardless of how many times it has been voted on.
